FAQs

When should my child have their first dental visit?

Your child’s first dental visit should be scheduled by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears, whichever comes first.
Early visits help your dentist monitor tooth development & catch any issues before they become problems.

Start cleaning your baby’s mouth even before the first tooth erupts. Use a soft, damp cotton cloth wrapped around the index finger and wipe the gums clean. Once the first tooth appears, start using a baby toothbrush with a smear of fluoride toothpaste.
Cavities aren’t caused only by chocolates or candies. Sticky snacks, frequent munching, night-time milk, or skipping brushing can also let bacteria feed on leftover sugars and cause decay.
Children should have their first orthodontic check-up around age 7. This helps spot early bite or jaw issues. Some kids may need early guidance, while others may start braces in their teens around 11–13 years.
These may be signs of an improper latch, often caused by a tongue tie, lip tie, or airway restriction. Such issues make feeding tiring for babies and painful for mothers.
A pediatric dentist or lactation consultant can assess and guide you for better, more comfortable feeding.
